Our Health Reflects Earth’s Health
It’s so important to understand that our health is related to so much more than us. Our health is very much intertwined with the health of the Earth. Dr. Zach Bush describes this in a moving and eloquent way in this video.
I would also recommend watching Dr. Paul Stamets amazing documentary “Fantastic Fungi” for a deeper understanding of how deeply interconnected our health is to the Earth’s health.
One of the best ways we can support our earth is by voting with our food dollars. When we buy food, we basically have two options. Option #1 is to the industrial/factory farm food system, which is rapidly destroying the ecosystems which are critical to Earth’s health. Most of the foods in supermarkets comes from this system. Option # 2 is to support local, regenerative and organic farming which actually helps repair our damaged Earth. Supporting our great local farmer’s markets and local regenerative farms is one of the most powerful ways we can improve the Earth’s health as well as our own health.
Here are a few of my favorites:
1. Well Fed Farms: Pasture Raised organic pork, chickens, eggs and organic vegetables.
2. Skiyou Ranch: Regenerative raised grass-fed beef.
3. Skagit River Ranch: Regenerative grass-fed beef, pasture raised pork, chicken, and eggs
4. Klesick’s: organic vegetables, fruits, eggs, dairy and meat delivered to your home.
5. Old Silvana Creamery: Raw milk (available at The Market in Anacortes, and the Skagit Valley Coop in Mt. Vernon)
6. Local Farmers Markets: We’re so fortunate to have many great Farmer’s Markets in Skagit Valley.
