I was lucky in growing up for so many reasons.  I grew up in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the oldest of 9 kids. LaCrosse is a town of 50,000 in the Mississippi River Valley, and we grew up roaming the bluffs and river as kids.  My parents were both very health conscious.  Dad was a dentist who did amalgam removal and recommended whole food diets and supplements to his patients in the 50’s and 60’s.  He gave me a copy of Weston Price’s “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration” when I was a teen. That book made a huge impact on me and I still have and treasure it.

With 9 kids my mom was the “domestic engineer”.  We rarely had processed food, and never had pop or candy.  I remember Mom reading Adele Davis, Rachel Carson, and Euell Gibbons growing up.  I graduated from the university of Wisconsin with a degree in Biology, and later decided I wanted to work in health care. I attended Palmer College College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa, graduating in 1984.  I began practice in Bellevue, WA. in 1985, and moved to Anacortes in 1997.  My wife Candice and I feel very blessed to live in such a special place.

I’ve always loved learning, and am still passionate about studying health and the amazing human brain and body. It’s an honor to work with all our amazing patients, and experiencing the transformations in their health with them. I also have the privilege of teaching NIS to other practitioners in North America and beyond, and one of my life goals is to change the way healthcare is delivered in the United States.

Nancy Boyd

» Office Manager

Hi my name is Nancy Boyd and I am so delighted to join the excellent team at Fidalgo Island Health Care. I am a fortunate 4th generation resident of our wonderful home town of Anacortes. Growing up here I have been able to enjoy all my favorite outdoor activities.  Hiking in our forest lands, boating the surrounding waters, camping, beach combing and most of all spending time with my beloved family. I am the proud mother of four children, two adorable granddaughters and two lively Black Lab dogs.

I have been in the medical field for 20 years, Before that I worked in area restaurants. Caring for others and  creating a welcoming reception to incoming patients is very important to me. I look forward to providing a friendly greeting and comforting assistance to all those seeking a path to better health and wellness.
